Sr Content Designer

Reporting to our client’s centralized Content Design practice, XD Content Designers drive the content strategy and the approach to content design within large and complex areas of the product (Web and app) ecosystem. As members of their XD community, they exemplify sound practices in human-centered content strategy and design. (They’re looking for team members who can lead by example!) And while no two days in the role are identical, your main responsibilities as a Sr Content Designer will look something like this:

  • Design thoughtful, intuitive content solutions for a range of product use cases and interactions
  • Apply human-centered practices and solid information architecture methods (e.g., modeling, mapping) in your work.
  • Apply sound concepts around UI frameworks, modularity, localization, reuse, and related concepts to craft content solutions that scale.
  • Contribute to design sprints and related cross-functional ceremonies that enable their teams to design customer-centered solutions together.
  • Participate in content tests that measurably improve the customer experience; and, as needed, help to identify, log, prioritize, and resolve content bugs across the portfolio.
  • Contribute frameworks, methods, critique, and documented knowledge to their content practice and our client’s Design System.
  • Exhibit storytelling and persuasive techniques that build trust and establish open, collaborative working relationships with teams and partners.

Who you are:

They realize that content strategy and content design are constantly evolving, and they know that no two people enter this field through the same path. So they’re not expecting you to be a specialist in everything listed here, but they do ask that you demonstrate expertise commensurate with the job level in whichever methods you apply. They’re also looking for people who will contribute frameworks to their growing team and their design system, so they’re excited to see how you scale your thinking!

  • Experience in core skills such as UX Writing, Content Audits and Analysis, Content Mapping and Modeling, Content Planning and Sourcing, Conversational Design, Information Architecture, and Storytelling. (This is not a content marketing or SEO role.)
  • Able to audit, analyze, structure, create, and present content independently using established frameworks.
  • Understanding of human-centered design (HCD) practices.
  • A thoughtful, empathetic, and inclusive approach to content design that meets every user where they are.
  • Exposure to working on content problems across systems and brands.
  • Strong skills in facilitation and presentation, and the ability to communicate compelling rationale and narratives to your team and partners.
  • A passion for travel and for their mission.
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills. They’re especially interested in seeing examples of work you’ve done for Android and iOS apps, and if you have experience working in a platform or two-sided marketplace, it’s a definite plus!
